“Decentralization” is never an easy process, let alone in a state as identity-diverse as Syria whose previously unified identity was irreparably damaged as a result of the foreign-instigated conflict. Ethno-regional and sectarian fault lines have been violently forced to the surface in some parts of the country.
Even before the results of the vote were published, Washington announced the promulgation of a «Presidential decree forbidding certain supplementary operations concerning Venezuela». Faced with the reality of the result, there was silence. What possible pursuit could be undertaken to advance the plan for the destruction of states and societies in the region?
There wasn’t ever officially any deal on the table for Russia to “refuse”. It was literally just that, an idea, and never anything more no matter how much some people may have imagined otherwise irrespective of the confusing signals that came out of Damascus.
Invading Iran would not be easy. Iran has very little capability to project power beyond its borders. Its air force, artillery and tanks are decrepit. America controls the skies from Morocco to Afghanistan. Iran is vulnerable to raids and small incursions but subjugating this large, mountainous nation of 80 million would be very difficult.
A turning point might therefore have finally been reached after Victory Day 2018 sobered up the minds of many in the Alt-Media Community and revealed to them that the dogma that some outlets and figures had indoctrinated them with for years about Russia and Israel turned out to be a complete lie.
Russia’s de-escalatory role will therefore be pivotal in determining the future of the proxy war between the West and Iran over Syria, but Moscow might ultimately have to “lean on” Damascus and “convince” it to make some “compromises” on Iran and Hezbollah’s post-Daesh military presence in the country.
Western governments are known to deploy so-called “sock puppets” and “bots” in waging information warfare, and it’s no secret that they coordinate campaigns with their Mainstream Media partners, which makes it all the more shameless for them to accuse their opponents of doing the same thing that they do out of the desperation that only such a stinging narrative defeat can bring.
President Putin is wise enough to know that Pandora’s Box can never be closed once it’s opened and that the opportunity for preventing that from happening passed a long time ago, but even if he’s unable to stop the world from descending further into chaos, he knows that he at least has an obligation to warn about it so that the global public can know who’s responsible for everything that happens afterwards.
It appears that the renewed conflict led to all actors involved to switch their sides to pursue their mutual interest which includes the new U.S –Turkey and its FSA, Assad-YPG alliance in Syrian civil war.
Is there an exit door available for Trump? Yes, there is. The US Defence Secretary James Mattis said that the work to assess the intelligence on the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria’s Douma is still in progress.
A US attack on Syria can distract attention from the stormy controversy that may arise if at this point Trump axes Mueller and derails the investigation against him.
The drums of war are pounding. After over one year of incessant Russia bashing and disinformation, is the public ready to go to war with Russia over Syria? Neoconservative hawks and their Israeli and Saudi allies seem to want this.
